Galleria dell’Accademia
Besides a remarkable collection of paintings, the gallery hosts some of Michelangelo’s most interesting statues, including his original David. The visit usually concerns the work of this incredible Renaissance master as his unfinished statues can give you the perception of how he used to proceed in what he always considered his favourite art: sculpting. But, depending on time and interest, due to the less known but extraordinary collection of Pre-renaissance paintings, we may as well complete this visit by analysing everything from the so-called Galleria del David up till the musical instrument collection which is part of this museum.
It is possible to visit the Galleria dell’Accademia and the Galleria degli Uffizi together on a 4-hour tour with an introduction to Florentine history by passing the Duomo, the medieval centre and Piazza Signoria on our way from one museum to the other.
