Duomo

What can I write about one of the most outstanding buildings of the past that has not yet been written by someone else? The Duomo is our main church, and democratically it belongs to every single Florentine; thus, we all call it simply Duomo and not Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. The link between the city and its main religious building lays all in this small and simple word: Duomo. Artists of all times felt deeply honoured to contribute to the creation of this singular cathedral; most of their works are now exhibited in the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo.
